NCE is looking for an experienced systems engineer for a Field Service role based broadly in the Newcastle Upon Tyne Area
Working from home, the successful applicant will be carrying out installation, configuration and repair tasks on a wide range of multi-vendor server, networking and data storage equipment. The role will encompass all aspects of on-site reactive service, planned maintenance and project-based deployment. Additionally, our engineers provide remote and telephone support for fault diagnosis, problem verification and technical support to customers and colleagues.
The working environment will include everything from small and medium enterprises through to major data centres and the incumbent will share workload with colleagues covering NCE’s Northern areas. As NCE is a global organisation, there is potential to be in communication with colleagues and customers worldwide. NCE operates a 24/7 service for its many and varied customers and consequently engineers participate in an Out-Of-Hours Standby rota.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience as a systems engineer, preferably accredited by appropriate manufacturers, with demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience of stand-alone and virtualised servers, network communications, disk arrays and tape libraries. Knowledge of MS Server, Unix / Linux and virtualisation would be considered a major asset as would in-depth exposure to leading networking software. The ability to communicate with remotely-located Sysadmins will be paramount as much of the work will take place in unattended data centres.
All our engineers are required to be Security Cleared as our customer base includes sensitive and restricted locations and we will arrange this for the successful candidate if not already held. A full UK driving licence is a basic requirement.
In return, NCE offer a competitive salary, with opportunities for overtime and standby payments in addition. Benefits include a fully-expensed company car, laptop and iPhone. NCE provide planned training and development for their technical staff through external and in-house programmes.
This is an opportunity to join and work with a long-established, successful and growing global organisation operating at the leading edge of IT technology.
